Log on with the iOS device you wish to jailbreak and follow the onsite instructions to forgo Apple's iOS and install Cydia. Supported devices for jailbreakme.com:

Users wanting to jailbreak their iPad 2 or iPhone 4 should be aware that the exploit used to hack into Apple's software could be closed by Apple in its next iOS update, rendering the site useless for the updated version of iOS.
It is also important to note that while many view jailbreaking as a good thing, the exploits used to install Cydia and other unapproved applications to your iOS devices could also be used for malicious purposes. Users should be sure to create a backup of their current iOS device before jailbreaking and revert, should anything not appear correct.Be sure to read up on all the latest news and notes about jailbreaking from the Dev-Team blog and the FAQ on jailbreakme.com.Will you jailbreak your iPad 2 or iPhone 4? The website doesn't say where it found the ad, and the flick doesn't give the name of the phone or details about any of its other specs. Add in the fact that the phone looks like the HTC Desire S with some Windows Phone 7 buttons grafted on, and you may wish to locate your nearest beard and stroke it in a sceptical fashion.Still, if the video's genuine, a 16-megapixel snapper might be worth having a dribble over. It would be the highest-resolution camera yet seen

on a smart phone, with the current record being held by the 14-megapixel snapper on the Altek A14 Leo. And if the phone lets you capture spontaneous moments perfectly, as the video suggests, you'd also be able to ditch the compact camera that's been taking up valuable technology space in your trouser pocket. As any of our grizzled camera reviewers will tell you, though, myriad megapixels don't necessarily mean better pictures. You can stuff as many megapixels as you like on to a sensor but, if it's too small, you'll end up with shots that are so noisy your eyes will go deaf. LED flashes don't tend to be the best way of illuminating dimly lit subjects either. As well as producing harsh images, their glare can leave your chums temporarily dazzled.Other mobile manufacturers are focusing less on megapixels than other aspects of camera technology. The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, for example, packs a relatively weedy 8.1-megapixel camera, but its newfangled Exmor R CMOS sensor means it takes some of the best shots we've seen from a phone snapper, particularly in low light.Check out the video below and then let us know in the comments section or on our Facebook wall whether you give a monkey's about a 16-megapixel phone camera.

cnet uk

Nokia E6

Say hello to the Nokia E6 and its buttons. Like most phones these days we've seen the E6 before: photos and video of the new phone leaked to the Internet recently, showing off its physical Qwerty keyboard, but now we've got all the official details. The screen is a 2.46-inch touchscreen offering a whopping 326ppi resolution. At the back is an 8-megapixel camera, and it's all wrapped up in a glass and stainless steel case, in silver and white or black.Inside there's an 680MHz ARM processor with graphics acceleration, 256MB of RAM and 8GB of storage built-in. You can add up to a microSD card for up to 32GB extra
memory. The phone includes a compass for when you get lost, as well as an orientation sensor. Nokia says it'll go a whole month without needing to be charged -- although obviously that's as long as you don't touch it.Like the Nokia X7, also announced today, the E6 runs on Symbian Anna. This new update to the Symbian software features new icons and quicker and simpler browsing and Ovi Maps. Although the E6 won't need it, Anna sports a new portrait Qwerty keyboard for touchscreen phones. The E6 will take advantage of Anna's heightened security and improved messaging for business users, so your serious bidness is safe from prying eyes. It includes plenty of access to business-focused Microsoft services and software including Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Communicator Mobile and SharePoint. When the business day is done -- or when you get bored in a meeting -- you can kick back with racing game Asphalt 5 HD or sci-fi adventure Galaxy On Fire.Nokia reckons it will start selling the E6 during Spring.
cnet

HTC Flyer available for pre-order

The Flyer might be lacking Android 3.0 Honeycomb thrills but, as HTC's first tablet, it's still attracting its fair share of attention. Now you can pre-order one from the Carphone Warehouse, albeit with a meaty £600 price tag attached. That price is for the SIM-free version of the device. Carphone Warehouse's listing made us fall off our chairs in surprise, with the company describing the Flyer as 'in stock'. But SlashGear says it was informed by Carphone Warehouse that the device won't actually ship until May.Carphone Warehouse isn't the only company offering the HTC Flyer for pre-order. Clove lists the device for the same price, but claims that its first stock will arrive in mid-April. Amazon is going with a £600 price tag too, but claims a release date of 5 May. Take
yer pick.Announced at Mobile World Congress in February, the Flyer is a 7-inch tablet with an aluminium unibody casing, and a 1.4GHz single-core processor. It runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread rather than Android 3.0 Honeycomb, which will be used by most Android slates.HTC has made much of the Flyer's stylus, which can be used to scribble notes on the capacitive touchscreen, although you can also do all the tapping and swiping that you would on other tablets. HTC's Sense user interface will be present, although we're still waiting to find out if the OnLive gaming service will feature on the Flyer at its UK launch, as it's expected to in the US.The Flyer is just the start of HTC's tablet ambitions. In March, rumours emerged of a 10-inch model heading our way later this year. Later that month, speculation suggested that two new Flyers would be out in the summer, with larger screens and Android 3.0.Could the older operating system leave the initial HTC Flyer gathering dust on the shelves while people wait for new models? Sometime in the next month, we'll find out.

cnet.uk

Nokia X7

Get excited, people -- this is the Nokia X7. The Finnish phone floggers flouted the X7 today, but is it excellent or excruciating? The X7 reminds us of the days when every phone wanted to look like a prop from Star Trek rather than trying to look exactly like the iPhone. It's sleekly crafted from stainless steel and glass with a curved, hand-friendly back and cool angled corners. The phone packs a 4-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 360x640 pixels. On the back is an 8-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, which also shoots 720p high-definition video.Under the bonnet is a 680MHz processor, GPS, an accelerometer and 802.11n Wi-Fi. It comes with
an 8GB microSD memory card. The X7 will be one of the first phones to come loaded with the new Symbian Anna software update. Anna adds new icons, a portrait Qwerty keyboard and improvements to the browser and Ovi Maps apps. It also offers Facebook and Twitter updates on the home screen. You can download apps and games to the phone from the Ovi Store. The X7 comes with racing game Asphalt 5 HD and sci-fi adventure Galaxy On Fire built-in.

cnet

HTC Sensation:dual-core super phone

Can you feel that strange sensation? It's the HTC Sensation, the new Android smart phone announced today. We've brought together the first official snaps and all the details you need to make sense of this dual-core powerhouse. The Sensation is driven by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, which makes it one of the most powerful phones around -- although as always, more power means the battery has to work harder. There's 4GB of memory built in and an 8GB card in the box.The Sensation packs a 4.3-inch, 16:9 touchscreen. It features an 8-megapixel camera for 1080p high-definition video, and a 1.2-megapixel camera on the front for video calling. It runs Android 2.3, the latest
version of Google's mobile phone software, so you can install apps and games to customise your phone to your heart's content. HTC has added its signature Sense interface on the top. Version 3.0 of Sense is packed with whooshy 3D animations and a clever unlock screen that goes direct to the right app when you fire up the phone.Movie lovers should enjoy the new HTC Watch service, streaming and downloading films and telly programmes to your phone. HTC reckons around 400-600 films will be available for your viewing pleasure. HTC Listen, a similar service for music, is not included in the Sensation. We saw it demoed earlier in the year on the HTC Flyer tablet, but we're still waiting to hear when it will be unleashed on the company's phones. If all this sounds familiar, that's because the Sensation has had more leaks than a Welsh greenhouse. It was previously known as the Pyramid before adopting the Sensation moniker here in Blighty. The Sensation will only be available through Vodafone at first, with the launch likely to be in May. You can register your interest at the Vodafone website. Three, T-Mobile and Orange have now confirmed they will also sell the Sensation in June.Being tied to just one network limits the options if you're determined to get your hands on this new Sensation straight away, but wait a few weeks and you'll have more choice. The price hasn't been revealed yet, but with all that power at your fingertips we sense the Sensation won't be cheap.

cnet.uk

<h2 style="line-height: 25px; U.K. comedian, tech-head, and all-around good nerd Jason Bradbury is seen in the vid using a pair of cheap night vision goggles, cling wrap, and an iPad2'scameratotake a revealing photo of himself--through his clothes. The idea is based on an inadvertent side effect that some camcorders with low-light functions experienced about a decade ago. The cameras worked by emitting infrared light via special LEDs. The
camera, when in "night vision" mode, would then record video in infrared instead of visible light. Some cameras, though, generated an "X-ray effect," allowing the viewer to see through the clothes of the person being videotaped.

This phenomenon was well documented and later-generation cameras were modified to exclude the "feature." While Bradbury's setup is more or less similar to the one employed by the first-generation naked-inducing cameras, we're not remotely convinced.

Sony Android Honeycomb tablet

Sony will enter tablet battle with Apple's iPad 2 before the nights draw in, if reports in Japanese newspaper Nikkei are to be believed. Sony's Welsh chief executive, Sir Howard Stringer, apparently hinted to the paper that the Japanese mega-corporation will launch an Android tablet before the end of the summer. That's a mighty tight deadline, but we've already had hints that Sony is working on some Android tablets -- the PlayStation-inspired S1 and unusual, folding
S2.
They'll run version 3.0 of Google's Android mobile operating system. Code-named Honeycomb, version 3.0 is designed specifically for tablets, taking advantage of their greater processing power and larger screen size. Honeycomb first appeared on the Motorola Xoom and will power a number of tablets this year.
Sony traditionally prefers proprietary technology over open standards -- the Japanese giant only recently deigned to adopt SD cards in its cameras, for example. Nevertheless, Sony seems to have seen the light with Android.
Sony Ericsson has produced a number of phones using Google's open-source operating system, including the Xperia Arc, Xperia X8 and Xperia Play. Those handsets run on Android but also add in technology from other parts of Sony's business, such as Bravia picture-processing software in the case of the Arc, and PlayStation gaming chops in the case of the Play.
As such, Sony's phone, laptop and telly tech could make its tablet a serious contender. Here's another thought: seeing as Sony is betting the farm on 3D, will we soon see the first 3D tablet?

cnet

iPhone 5 set for 8-megapixel camera

Sony is making image sensors for the iPhone 5, judging by comments made on stage at a US conference by CEO Sir Howard Stringer. His claim that Sony is making cameras for Apple chimed with reports earlier this year that the company has won the contract to make 8-megapixel image sensors for upcoming iOS devices.
9 to 5 Mac and the Wall Street Journal reported Stringer's comments separately, albeit with a certain amount of paraphrasing. The WSJ has him saying, "It always puzzles me: why would I make Apple the best camera?" While 9 to 5 Mac
paraphrases another comment as, "Isn't that something? They buy our best sensors from us."
Why has this sent the blogosphere into a flap? Well, Sony doesn't make the camera sensors for the current iPhone 4 -- they're made by a company called OmniVision.
A switch from OmniVision to Sony has actually been rumoured since April 2010, when analyst Ashok Kumar predicted that the 2011 iPhone model would include an 8-megapixel Sony camera (while at the same time correctly predicting a 5-megapixel OmniVision sensor for the iPhone 4).
Assuming Stringer's comments referred to a deal -- and just as importantly, assuming that deal isn't now scuppered by Apple as a result -- what can we expect from the iPhone 5?
Sony's 8-megapixel sensor is already being used for a couple of Sony Ericsson phones, the Xperia Arc and Xperia Neo. Both include back lighting to help your shots in low-light conditions, much like the iPhone 4.
If Sony is supplying an 8-megapixel sensor for the iPhone 5, that may scotch our hopes that the device will include dual-camera 3D capabilities, which were hinted at in a patent filing from Apple that came to light last week. Ah well, there's always the iPhone 6 for that...

cnet

Apple to launch iPhone 5 on 6 June?

Mark your calendars, clear your schedule, and ask yourself this: has Apple just set the date for the iPhone 5? If the fruit-flavoured phone maker sticks to past form, the next generation of iPhone could be unveiled to gasps of wonder on 6 June. The boys and girls at Cupertino have set the date for the Apple Worldwide Developers' Conference, an annual shindig for makers of software that runs on the iPhone, iPad and iMac. WWDC 2011 will run from Monday 6 June until Friday 10 June, and for five days the Moscone Centre in San Francisco, USA will be packed to the gunnels with Apple ubernerds.

In recent years, WWDC has become the home of new iPhones. The iPhone 4 took a bow at WWDC in 2010, the iPhone 3GS popped out of a cake at WWDC 2009, and the iPhone 3G burst from Apple's chest at WWDC 2008.
But Apple may want to break the cycle, either to shift the spotlight back on to software or just due to general mardiness. This year's WWDC will reveal "the future of iOS and Mac OS", according to Apple boss Phil Schiller. We've just had an update to Apple's mobile operating system iOS -- iOS 4.3 on the new iPad 2 -- but it's not a major revision. Maybe we'll see iOS 5 launched, or perhaps previewed ahead of an Autumn release.
The next generation of Apple's OS X desktop software is Lion, which draws a number of features from its mobile counterpart. There's a new Launchpad which borrows the grid layout of apps, as well as full-screen apps and autosaving and resuming features.
Lion is roaring into shops this summer, and at WWDC developers will "see and learn how to develop world-class Mac OS X Lion applications", which probably means some big-name apps being shown off. Developers can bring their own code and work with Apple backroom boffins at the conference.

cnet.co.uk

Windows Phone 7 updates

Windows Phone users have been discovering the downside of Microsoft's desire to stay on the good side of its mobile network partners: updates to the software only arrive on handsets when the operator has finished testing them, much like Android. This means many people face a lengthy lag between Microsoft releasing an update and it landing on their phone, so there's cause for frustration. It should come as no surprise that someone's taken it into their own hands to solve the problem, although we'll warn you right away that this is something for the braver members of the WP7 community, who don't mind risking a bricked handset.
The public-spirited hacker is Chris Walsh, who explains on his blog that he managed to crack an official support tool released by Microsoft over the weekend, and found a pleasant surprise lurking within:
"Basically they've created a managed wrapper over the whole update process for us, rather nice of them," he writes. "So I flashed my HTC Mozart back to RTM (7004) via a ROM update HTC ship and whipped up a little application to flash pre-NoDo (7008), NoDo (7355), NoDo update 1 (7389) & NoDo update 2 (7390) all in a single process. No I don't care which carrier you are on, which phone you have, it'll just update your phone accordingly."
He gives detailed instructions on using the tool to update your Windows Phone 7 smart phone to the latest OS version, and warns that since he's been unable to test it on every handset, there may be problems for some. Comments indicate that the Samsung Omnia 7 may have issues, for example, with people reporting that they are unable to use the Zune, Marketplace store and even email after using the tool to update their phones.
Like we said, this is one for the brave.

cnet .co.uk

Untethered iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak

Dev Team hacker Musclenerd who is currently busy in integrating Stefan Essar’s untethered iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak exploit into a working untether jailbreak tool, today confirmed that the exploit will jailbreak your iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 4G, 3G, iPad 1G including Apple TV2. But we'll be updating this story as the facts arrive, so bookmark it to find the buffest, bronzest news on features and prices for the fifth coming of the Jesus phone.

Beauty
Based on leaked picturs, it looks as though the iPhone 5 won't look much different to the iPhone 4. That sounds about right to us, considering Apple packed some epic hardware innovations into the iPhone 4. The company also tends to stick with its favourite designs for years, from the identical twin iPhone 3G and 3GS to the enduring MacBook Pro
There have been rumours that the iPhone 5 will have an aluminium back cover, rather than a glass one. This change could help make the phone tougher, after it reportedly suffered problems cracking when using a slide-on cover. We have a soft spot for the metallic case on the original iPhone, and the new iPad 2 is also rocking the metal look. But we think Apple is too married to its innovative glass design to go for this change.
We are hoping for a slightly larger screen, however, as shown in the leaked mould photos. The iPhone 4 has a 3.5-inch screen, which is starting to feel teeny compared to its Android competition, despite its spectacular resolution. If Apple can up the screen size and keep that eye-wateringly beautiful clarity, we'll be thrilled, especially if it does it by shrinking the bezel around the screen, keeping the phone small. For a phone of the same size, it'd be hard-pressed to fit in a 4-inch screen, so we're on the lookout for something closer to 3.7 inches.
If you like your tech with a wintery dusting of white, we expect to see black and white versions of the iPhone 5, leapfrogging the black-only iPhone 4 thanks to paint improvements that brought us the iPad 2 in white.

Brains
We're expecting a new version of Apple's operating system, iOS, to arrive along with the iPhone 5. We can't promise it will be iOS 5, or that it will have any of our most-wanted features
We'd love the ability to sync the iPhone 5 with multiple computers, but it's unlikely Apple will muddy the iTunes waters by allowing that. We live in hope that wireless syncing could be in the cards, though, so we don't have to plug the iPhone 5 into our computer with a USB cable.
Alternatively, we might get a revamped version of Apple's cloud-based service, MobileMe, Rumour has it MobileMe could drop its subscription fee and shift its focus from email to online storage of photos, music and video.
Flash in the Web browser is out of the question, although the iPhone 5's browser will probably be even faster at rendering pages. iOS 4.3 speeded up one of the best browsers in the business, but there's always room for improvement, especially if the iPhone 5 adds a GPU for dedicated graphics processing.
We'd also like to see major improvements to AirPlay and AirPrint, both of which only work if you've invested in bundles of expensive Apple-compatible kit. AirPlay streams your media to an Apple TV or AirPlay-enabled speakers, but it would be great if it worked with non-Apple DLNA televisions.
AirPrint only prints to a handful of printers, but should have launched with the option to print to any printer via a networked computer. Hopefully Apple will resurrect that feature for the iPhone 5.

Brawn
Apple calls its dual-core processor the A5, as seen in the iPad 2. We call it so speedy it eats the company's previous CPU, the A4, for breakfast. Expect the iPhone 5 to use the A5, which has a processor, GPU and RAM all on one die, joining the ranks of dashing dual-core smart phones such as the Samsung Galaxy S 2 and the LG Optimus 2X
Another internal gizmo rumoured for the iPhone 5 has been near-field communication (NFC), which allows you to do things wirelessly with the phone such as tapping a reader to pay for your sandwich. But now we're hearing that Apple could work out its own, proprietary version of the contactless system. Which means it will either vanish off the face of the Earth, or force us all to buy iPhones immediately. Sigh.
One thing Apple had better sort out for the iPhone 5 is its antenna. Previous iPhones were terrible at making and receiving calls, but the iPhone 4 took the cake with antennagate. The Cupertino kids redesigned the iPhone 4's antenna for the version of the phone that recently came out for the US's Verizon network, but it still had problems, according to Consumer Reports.
Previous iPhones sold like hotcakes without having decent reception, so Apple may feel it can leave it alone. But we have high hopes for some improvement in the next model.
The camera in the iPhone 5 is also likely to be revamped. The iPhone 4 has 5 megapixels and an LED photo light, along with high dynamic range software to help with exposure. In our tests, the iPhone 4 took decent shots, but it's still not as good as Nokia's 12-megapixel efforts on the N8.
Rather than simply bumping up the megapixels, the iPhone 5 could add some sensor innovation such as the Exmor R CMOS sensor that's coming soon on the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc. This type of back-illuminated sensor takes smoother, less noisy shots in low light.

Mini-me
We don't have the details on iPhone 5 deals yet, but it's bound to be expensive. If it's out of your price range, you'll be happy to hear rumours are flying faster than an eagle with a jetpack about a cheaper version of the phone.
We've heard about a wee iPhone -- an iPhone nano, if you will -- that's either a third smaller, or half the size, of its big brother. Although we'd love to squee over a tiny iPhone, we lean towards the competing speculation that rather than a smaller phone, which could have usability issues, Apple could create a cheaper iPhone by cutting costs on components. A lower resolution screen and camera, for example, could make for a bargain iPhone.

iPhone 5 deals
Apple has a history of releasing each new iPhone in June, so it's very likely we'll see the iPhone 5 in the shops around the same time this yea

cnet.co.uk
